Title I: District Parent Involvement Policy

It is the goal of Baugo Community Schools to provide a quality education to every student. The School System recognizes the importance of developing a working relationship with parents and the community. It is the policy of the District that parents of Title I students have the opportunity to be active participants in the development, review, and implementation of the Title I Parent Involvement Plan. It is the responsibility of the District to provide coordination, technical assistance, and other necessary support in planning and executing parent involvement activities. The staff of Baugo Community Schools supports the following policy to assist in the
development of active parent involvement.

It is the policy of the Baugo Community School District that:

  • The Parent Involvement Policy will be distributed to parents of participating Title I students annually.
  • All parents will be invited to the annual Title I parent meeting in the fall. Baugo Community Schools will offer a flexible number of meetings. Each meeting will be held at a convenient time and location. Parents will be notified by mail of the date and time of all meetings. Any parent unable to attend one of the meetings may request an alternate meeting time.
  • Parents will be informed of the Title I requirements and guidelines and their parental rights during the annual meeting.
  • Parents will be provided with information about expected proficiency levels and assessment results.
  • Parent will be included and involved in the process of school review and the development of the school improvement plan.
  • Parents will be notified of Adequate Yearly Progress status. Parents will be advised of improvement status, corrective action, or restructuring. The District will follow the guidelines established by NCLB to notify parents of any school identified as failing.
  • A jointly-developed school/parent compact will be distributed and reviewed. The compact will outline the responsibilities of parents, students, and school staff for improving student achievement.
  • The District, to the extent practicable, will provide full opportunities for the participation of parents of students with special needs and limited English. Including, but not limited to, Title I notifications being provided to families using multiple forms of communications and in a language that parents can easily understand.
  • The District will communicate to parents how their child's progress will be reported. The District will ensure that student progress is reported to parents quarterly. Parents will have access to parent resources at each Title I school. Parents will be provided with information and materials to help support their student's learning. Books and games will be available for parents to borrow.
  • Parents will help to make decisions about the use of any funds set aside for parental involvement.
  • The District will assist in the coordination and integration of parent programs, volunteer/mentor/tutor programs, and school-wide activities provided by PTO or other community groups which are designed to improve student achievement.
  • The District will coordinate and integrate Head Start and other preschool programs in preparation for continued education. The District will hold kindergarten round-up. This will provide for a smooth transition of Head Start and pre-school students into the District's all-day kindergarten program.
  • A parent survey will be conducted in the spring each year to determine the effectiveness of the parent program. It will also attempt to identify any barriers that hampered parent participation. The information gathered will be used to develop a parent involvement program for the upcoming school year.
  • A parent involvement meeting will be held annually to review and update the Parent Involvement Policy. All parents of Title I students are welcomed. Parent input will be encouraged.
  • Parents will be provided with methods for communicating effectively with their child's teacher.
  • Annual training will be provided to school personnel regarding the importance of parents in the educational process. The staff will be given strategies for building partnerships with parents.
  • Parents will receive timely responses to all questions and suggestions.

La política del distrito dice que los padres de estudiantes de Title I deben tener la oportunidad de participar activamente en el desarrollo, revisión, e implementación del Plan de Involucramiento de Padres de Title I. El distrito tiene la responsabilidad de proveer la coordinación, asistencia técnica, y cualquier otra ayuda necesaria para planear y ejecutar actividades de involucramiento de padres. El personal Baugo Community Schools apoya la política para asistir en el desarrollo involucramiento activo de padres.

La Política de Involucramiento de Padres será distribuida anualmente a los padres de estudiantes participantes de Title I.

Todos los padres serán invitados a la reunion anual de padres de Title I en el otoño. Baugo Community Schools ofrecerá un número flexible de reuniones. Cada reunión será en un lugar y horario conveniente. Los padres serán notificados por correo de la fecha y hora de todas las reuniones. El distrito seguirá las pautas establecidas por No Child Left Behind para notificar a los padres de cualquier escuela identificada como fracasante (calificación F)
  • El convenio de padres que fue conjuntamente desarrollado será distribuido y revisado. El convenio delineara las responsabilidades de los padres, estudiantes, y del personal de la escuela para mejora los logros estudiantiles.
  • El distrito, al límite de lo posible, proveerá oportunidades para la participación de los padres de niños con necesidades especiales e inglés limitado. Incluyendo, pero no limitado a, notificaciones de Title I usando múltiples formas de comunicación y en un lenguaje que los padres puedan entender fácilmente.
  • El distrito le comunicará a los padres como reportará el progreso de sus niños. El distrito asegura que el progreso de los estudiantes será reportado a los padres cada trimestre.
  • Los padres tendrán acceso a recursos para padres en cada escuela de Title I. Los padres recibirán información y materiales para apoyar el aprendizaje de sus niños. Libros y juegos estarán disponibles para que los padres tomen prestados.
  • Los padres ayudarán a tomar decisiones sobre el uso de fondos destinados al involucramiento de padres.
  • El distrito asistirá en la coordinación e integración de programas para padres, programas para mentores/ voluntarios/ tutores, y actividades patrocinadas por el PTO o cualquier otro grupo de la comunidad designado para mejorar los logros de los estudiantes.
  • El distrito coordinará e integrará a Head Start y otros programas preescolares de preparación educativa. El Distrito tendrá una redada de kindergarten. Ésta proveerá una transición a los estudiantes de Head Start u otro programa preescolar al programa de kindergarten del distrito.
  • Una encuesta de padres se llevará cada primavera para determinar la efectividad del programa de padres. También intentará identificar cualquier barrera que obstaculice la participación de padres. La información obtenida será usada para desarrollar un programa de involucramiento de padres para el siguiente año escolar.
  • Anualmente habrá una reunión de involucramiento de padres para revisar y actualizar la Política de Involucramiento de Padres. Todos los padres de niños de Title I son bienvenidos. El aporte de los padres será apreciado.
  • Los padres recibirán métodos para comunicarse efectivamente con el maestro de su niño(a).
  • El personal de la escuela recibirá entrenamiento sobre la importancia de los padres en el proceso educativo anualmente. El personal de la escuela recibirá estrategias para construir relaciones con los padres.
  • Los padres reciban respuesta a todas las preguntas y sugerencias de manera oportuna.
